Ahhh TikTok such a great platform for so many people including fashion enthusiasts! This week I got to (virtually) chat with Abelyn, a Youtuber and a TikTok star. Her style is and personality just screams, "hot girl" energy, and I am OBSESSED!
With over 32K followers and 1.6M likes on TikTok, she has brought so many fashion inspo to many others. She is a thrifting queen and a Depop lover, which she shares through her TikTok and Youtube channel. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to talk to her and get some more insight into her life!
How long have you been into fashion?
"I’ve been into fashion since I was a little girl and started dressing myself for school! My mom was probably my biggest influence when I was younger because I always stole her clothes! I started seriously caring about fashion and my outfits around 2 years ago!"
What is your best fashion advice?
"My best fashion advice is, and I know it sounds cheesy but, ‘Wear whatever you want and carry that with confidence!’ Also, leather jackets never go out of style!"
How would you describe your aesthetic?
"My aesthetic is funky, girly, chill, comfy? I love to look cute with my outfits but I love to be comfy even more! I don’t think I have a specific aesthetic because I take inspiration from skater style, girly style, or different eras like the 70s and 90s."
How has TikTok changed you? (good and bad)
"Without a doubt, TikTok has given me the most recognition out of all my social media platforms! I think Tiktok has changed me in both good and bad ways, mostly good though! In the best way, Tiktok has basically changed my life compared to where I was a year ago. It gave me a platform which then transferred to my Instagram, Youtube, and Depop. For as long as I could remember I’ve wanted to be a content creator for brands and be allowed to have creative freedom, and basically post whatever I want. I have been able to become self-employed and have an audience that cares and is as passionate about the same things I am. (clothes, food, current events)
For the bad side of Tiktok, it has made me more guarded at times and it can come across as standoffish to my followers. I have experienced hate on the internet in a pretty big way, and with that, it makes me not want to post because I seem very confident online but I am a normal person at the end of the day and I get my feelings hurt from what people say about me. But for the most part, I’ve had an amazing experience with Tiktok and I love everyone that follows me and supports me!"
Who are your fashion icons?
"My fashion icons are Devon Carlson, Cherie Madeleine, Bella Hadid, and Millie Hannah! They all have their own style but they all wear whatever they want and are super true to themselves which is why I love them. My friends are also my icons because I truly value their opinions and personal styles."
What is a fun fact about yourself?
"Fun fact! I am the biggest homebody I know! I could stay home for weeks and only leave to get food."
“It’s better to fail in originality than succeed in imitation”
I really love this quote because I feel like when I tried to be more like everyone else I just blended in. But as soon as I grew into myself and became more confident people started to notice and I started gaining the success I had been wanting.
Moral of the story is be true to yourself :)
I am so happy I got to talk more to Abelyn and literally more in love with her and her style! She is so genuine and such a fashion icon to me and I cant wait to see all the amazing things she will do in the future!
- ciao!
